La propuesta RichMedia de Google

Nuestros amigos de Google acaban de presentarnos en detalle su programa Google Gadgets Ads. En un principio tiene grandes similitudes a una propuesta de cualquiera de los proveedores de soluciones para el uso de RichMedia en display. Sin embargo la iniciativa de Google presenta algunos aspectos que la hacen muy interesante.

En primer lugar Google ofrece la posibilidad de utilizarla a lo largo de su red publicitaria de afiliados a la que inicialmente denominaban Site Targeting y ahora parece ser que renombran como display advertising. En resumen se trata de una red de sites que han incluido dentro de su código el del programa de Google para permitir a este la difusión de anuncios sólo de texto o anuncios gráficos (display) mediantes estándares IAB.

La novedad frente a lo que Site Targeting venía ofreciendo campo radica en que ahora se puede aprovechar las posibilidades de la utilización de un formato RichMedia (la landing podría tener hasta un máximo de 50 KB pero luego no hay limitación al contenido total del site) que nos permitirá la elaboración de minisites interactivos dentro de la pieza publicitaria con distintos niveles de interacción. Al igual que el servicio que ofrece por ejemplo EyeBlaster, la opción de Google permite la medición de diferentes parámetros de interacción mediante la inserción de opciones de código dentro de la propia pieza (desde interacción con elementos multimedia, hasta la realización de valoraciones de producto, hasta un total de 62 tipos de interacción diferentes). De esta forma podemos medir la profundidad de la interacción de los usuarios dentro de la pieza y obtener referencias interesantes para orientar la interacción hacia aquellos aspectos que aportan mayor valor para el usuario (se puede cambiar la pieza tantas veces como queramos).

Hasta aquí podríamos decir que no hay grandes novedades respecto a otras ofertas disponibles en el mercado, sin embargo hay dos cuestiones que la hacen diferente. En primer lugar el apoyo a los desarrolladores mediante un tutorial tremendamente sencillo y un "tester" que permite comprobar los errores del código (tiene que cumplir con una serie de requisitos antes de poder lanzarse la creatividad) y ayuda al programador a corregir los posibles errores en el código de manera hipersencilla. Una vez validada la aplicación se puede subir la campaña con un solo clic.

La segunda es que el desarrollo de la pieza no tiene por qué estar sujeto exclusivamente a la duración de la campaña sino que se puede utilizar como un widget a integrar en la página personalizada de cualquier usuario de Google (iGoogle) o como un widget más de la oferta para Google Desktop. De esta manera ofreceríamos una aplicación que permanecería en el escritorio o en el navegador del usuario mientras siguiera siendo de interés o de utilidad para él, y esto si es una gran diferencia. La verdad es que desconozco cifras sobre el número de usuarios en nuestro país que utilizan la opción de iGoogle para personalizar su página de inicio (tampoco me la ha contado Google), pero me temo que aún no deben ser muchos a día de hoy aunque sin duda seguirá creciendo en el futuro.

Os recomiendo que le echéis un ojo a algunos casos de éxito del piloto que han realizado con anunciantes en los EEUU para que os hagáis una idea de que cosas se pueden hacer.
